An artist whose talent and powerhouse of a voice have gained him popular acclaim, William Prince is an award-winning songwriter, musician, and actor of Canadian origin. With a career starting in 2011, William has been part of the Canadian indie-folk scene for nearly a decade, attracting the public’s attention with his captivating music and heartfelt lyrics.

Coming from a family of Indigenous educators in Peguis First Nation, Manitoba, Canada, William developed his love for music from his father. Influenced by Neil Young (similar artist) and Bob Dylan, William started writing and recording music in 2011. That same year, he won Aboriginal Songwriter of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

He released his first album in 2012, named after his home village, Peguis. Since then, William has released a variety of albums including ‘Earthly Days’, in 2016; ‘reliever’, in 2018; and ‘Gentle Arts of Living’, in 2020. In the same year, he won the 2020 Juno Award for his album ‘Gentle Art Of Living’ in the Indigenous Music Album category, earning him the title of Juno Award-winning artist.

His songwriting, which fuses his roots in folk music with inspiration from pop music, has resulted in some of the most iconic music of the past few years. His most popular songs, include ‘Bloom’ (2016) and ‘Breathless’ (2018), both of which demonstrate his unique ability to captivate the listener with his sincere lyrics and different vocal tones.

Throughout the years, William Prince has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognition for his outstanding musical work. In addition to his Juno Award, he has won Indigenous Music Album of the Year at the 2017 Western Canadian Music Awards, and Aboriginal Song and Album of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2011 and 2012.
