Wilhelmine began as a side project for Bruun and his then-bandmates members from the punk rock band [Lemonheads, who formed Wilhelmine as a way to explore their collective love of classic rock and 1960s folk. While not initially expecting the project to be successful, the band quickly grew in popularity and over the years released many successful albums and singles that further established their unique sound.
Throughout their history, Wilhelmine has consistently toured the world with their music. 1988: Wilhelmine forms with John Bruun, Henry Eriksson, Lily Raven, Adele, Jens Larsson and Karin Thor as members.
1992: Adele is replaced by singer/songwriter Mariana Graham.
1995: Jens Larsson is replaced by guitarist/percussionist Hakan Engdahl.
2001: Karin Thor is replaced by keyboardist/vocalist Elin Kinberg.
2004: Henry Eriksson leaves, replaced by bassist/bass synth programmer Sten Strandmark.
