Origin & Historical Events

The Weather Station is an indie-folk band founded in Toronto, Canada in 2006 by frontwoman Tamara Lindeman. After releasing a few lo-fi recordings on MySpace, they released their first album in 2008, titled "The Line".

Their sophomore album, released in 2012, was entitled "All of It Was Mine". This album, which is made up of gentle, sparse arrangements and thoughtful, emotionally reflective lyrics, propelled the band to greater success and critical acclaim. The album received glowing reviews from publications such as Pitchfork, Uncut, and The A.V. Club, cementing The Weather Station's status as one of the most promising acts in the indie-folk scene.

The band's third album, "Loyalty" was released in 2017 and showcased a slight sonic shift for The Weather Station, swapping the spare folk of the first two albums for lush, vibrant production. The album was a critical and commercial success, with Universal Records acquiring the rights to distribute the album worldwide. The band toured extensively throughout North America and Europe to promote the album and it spawned a handful of singles, featuring on NPR, BBC and CBC.
