Historical overview of The Distillers

The Distillers are an influential punk rock band, hailing from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1998 by singer and songwriter Brody Dalle, the band rose to fame in the early 2000s and quickly established itself as a prominent part of the alternative music scene.

Origins

The band's origins can be traced back to 1993, when vocalist Brody Dalle and bassist Kimberly "Cash" Brennan met while attending a street punk show. In 1998, the two formed The Distillers and released their self-titled debut EP. The EP grabbed the attention of major labels, and the band signed with Hellcat Records, the punk label of ska band The Bosstones. After signing with Hellcat, the band released their first full-length album, "Coral Fang", in 2003.

Band History

After the release of "Coral Fang", The Distillers gained critical acclaim from punk and alternative rock fans alike. The band embarked on multiple tours throughout the world, as well as some notable festival appearances. During this time, the band also released their second full-length album, "Sing Sing Death House". This record marked a shift in sound for the band, as their songs became heavier and more charged with offbeat lyrics.

Sound & Genre

The Distiller's sound is heavily influenced by punk and alternative rock, as well as grunge, surf rock and garage rock. The band's songs often feature aggressive, distorted guitar riffs and anthemic choruses, making them particularly popular with fans of punk and alternative music.
