When two siblings get together and form a band, the results can be remarkable. Enter Pip and Tender Blom, the two siblings of Amsterdam whose collective music talent and ingenuity led them to form the melodic indie rock band, "Pip Blom".
Since their launch in 2015, this dynamic duo, with the help of various different band members, have quickly risen to international critical acclaim. Known for their catchy, upbeat music melodies and passionate live performance, they have made a profound impression on the indie music scene in the Netherlands.
The origins of "Pip Blom" date back to Arnhem, Netherlands in 2013. After a short break away from music, the duo teamed up to form a family band but soon split due to creative differences. Subsequently, Pip claimed the name "Pip Blom" and launched the band the following year in Amsterdam. Joining forces with various different musicians, the band released their first EP titled ‘The Costs’ in 2015.
Since launch, the lineup of "Pip Blom" has shifted and transformed. Starting with the two core members, Pip and Tender Blom, the lineup also includes members Gini Cameron, Darek Mercks, Jamie Scallion and Daniel Vugt who all bring different instrumental strengths and energy to the band.
"Pip Blom" is often synonymous with catchy, infectious indie rock hits. Their breakthrough single, ‘Come Home’ from 2016, was soon followed by quickly followed by other hits such as ‘Daddy Issues’ and ‘I Think I’m In Love’ both of which have garnered great radio play.
"Pip Blom" can be seen as a melodic mix of Jawbreaker, Sleater-Kinney and The Breeders. Having recently shared the stage and toured with fellow Dutch rockers, ‘The Homesick’, the two bands have frequently been compared to one another due to their shared affinity for melancholic songs and energetic live performances.
From Amsterdam all the way to the global stage, "Pip Blom" have made an indelible mark on the Netherlands’ indie rock scene. Today, we can look back at their musical legacy fondly and remember the unforgettable melodies and musical energy that the band has provided for years.
