Matt Andersen - The Ontario Bluesman Rocking The Music Scene

Matt Andersen is an Ontario-born bluesman who is renowned for his incredible blend of acoustic blues, as well as his powerful vocals that have been compared to the likes of Joe Cocker's.

As a child, Matt Andersen was influenced by his father's interest in Elvis Presley, Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers. After picking up the guitar at age 13 and becoming involved in the music scene of his hometown in rural Ontario, Andersen developed a passion for the blues and gospel music that has since become his trademark sound.

In 2003, he released his debut album, "One Size Never Fits". The album showcased his unique blend of blues and roots and earned him much critical acclaim from the Canadian music scene. He has gone on to tour with artists such as Big Sugar, Blue Rodeo, and Gord Downie.

In 2008, Matt formed a backing band, the Mellotones. The band consists of multi-instrumentalists Dale Murray and Michael Timmins of the Cowboy Junkies, and twin rhythm guitarists Steve Koch and Donnie Macdonald. This line-up of the Mellotones has played over 700 shows worldwide, and continues to tour today.

The band has multiple studio albums, including "Weightless" (2011), "Coal Mining Blues" (2013), and "Honest Man" (2016), all of which feature his songwriting and guitar playing in full range. Each album has resulted in sold-out tours, as fans come out to experience the power of Matt's live performances.
