Origins

Leftover Salmon, who is widely credited as the originators of jamgrass, a unique blend of bluegrass and rock music, was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1989 by Vince Herman, Drew Emmitt and Mark Vann. The three had met in various musical projects and formed the musical collective which would soon become one of the most influential bluegrass-jam bands in the music industry.

Band History

Leftover Salmon's influential career began in earnest in 1991 with their debut album titled "Bridges to Bert,” released on the labels Southdraw and Flying Moose. The album was assigned tribute albums, such as “Leftovers” and “Bridges, Vol. 2.”

By 1994, Leftover Salmon had released their second studio album, “Ask the Fish” as well as their first live album, “Live.” At the time, their lineup also changed, as guitarist and banjoist Matt Flinner was added.

Over the years, their lineup included many acclaimed musicians such as Dave Willey and Tye North, as well as highly respected members of the bluegrass and folk music community such as banjoist Jeff Mosier and mandolinist Noam Pikelny.
