Led Zeppelin is one of the most successful and influential rock bands in music history. The English rock group, formed in 1968, won the hearts of millions around the world throughout the 1970s, thanks to the talent and visibility of four former session musicians: guitarist and founder Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist Ward, and drummer John Bonham.
The origin of Led Zeppelin was London in 1968, when Jimmy Page, former leader of The Yardbirds, decided to create a band with a heavy blues-rock and psychedelic sound. To accomplish this vision, Page put together John Bonham, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones-all respected session musicians at the time. During their career, the band released nine studio albums that are considered classic rocks albums, such as Led Zeppelin IV, the band's most commercially successful, with the classic "Stairway to Heaven".
Along with the albums, Led Zeppelin had some of the most successful concert tours of the 1970s, playing everywhere from stadiums to small music halls. Led Zeppelin's live performances were incredibly energetic and had fans hypnotised by the explosive duel between John Bonham and Jimmy Page.

The likes of Deep Purple and Rush were inspired by Led Zeppelin as well as many blues-rockers that followed in their wake. Other bands that have commonly been compared to Led Zeppelin include Black Sabbath, Cream, and Grand Funk Railroad.
Led Zeppelin left a great legacy of classic rock hits such as "Whole Lotta Love", "Black Dog", "Dazed and Confused", and "Immigrant Song". The influence of the band can be heard in many bands from the hard rock scene, such as Guns N' Roses, Queens of The Stone Age, and Aerosmith.
Led Zeppelin was also one of the first bands to incorporate elements of folk music, classical music, and traditional Celtic music into its sound. This is especially evident in some of their heavier ballads, such as "Kashmir" and "The Rain Song".
Whether you love the blues-rock sound of Led Zeppelin or the hard rock songs, thereβs a track on each of their albums for everyone. Their unique and iconic sound has stood the test of time, and their influence over modern-day rock bands only continues to grow.
