History of Hiss Golden Messenger

Hiss Golden Messenger was formed in 2007 in Durham, North Carolina by MC Taylor, formerly known as a member of the band The Court & Spark, and Scott Hirsch. They released their first album, Country Hai East Cotton, in 2008 followed by Bad Debt in 2010.

The band's sound expanded on their debut album, showcasing their eclectic take on roots music. This eclectic mix of sounds, ranging from blues, folk, and psychedelica, has become the group's trademark.

With the release of their critically acclaimed third album, Haw, in 2014, the band reached a wider audience and received several accolades. In 2016, Hiss Golden Messenger was nominated for the Americana Music Award for Album of the Year with their fifth studio album, Heart Like A Levee.
