Origin

The early line-up of the Foo Fighters consisted of Dave Grohl (vocals and guitar), Nate Mendel (bass), Pat Smear (guitar), William Goldsmith (drums) and Franz Stahl (guitar). In 1997, Goldsmith left the band and was replaced by Taylor Hawkins who became the band’s official drummer. Later, Grohl and Hawkins added new members Chris Shiflett (guitar), Rami Jaffee (keyboards) and Trent Reznor (synthesizer, guitar, flute and piano).

Foo Fighters released their self-titled album in 1995 and since then, the band has had many successful albums, including The Colour and the Shape (1997), There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999), and Wasting Light (2011). They continue to influence contemporary rock music and have won several Grammys for their music.
