Fontaines DC is an Irish indie rock band from Dublin, Ireland that have been playing together since 2017. Originating from the Irish underground music scene, they quickly made a name for themselves with their explosive live shows and distinct post-punk sound.
The band formed in late 2017 when founding members Carlos O’Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan III (bass) and Tom Coll (drums) met at a house party in Dublin. With their shared love of early punk bands and classic literature, they began rehearsing together shortly afterwards and started releasing a steady stream of singles in mid to late 2018.
Fontaines DC released their debut album, Dogrel, in April 2019 to critical acclaim and an army of new fans. The album was widely praised for its emphatic lyrics and the band’s unique take on traditional Irish music. It reached number 4 on the Irish Singles Chart, leading to a string of sold-out headline shows around the world, including UK, Europe, Australia and the US.
