With his deep Irish roots and stunning guitar melodies, Dermot Kennedy has solidified himself as one of today's leading artists in the indie-folk music scene. Boasting a versatile vocal range, Kennedy has crafted his unique style over the course of his career to create captivating and impactful songs.
Originally hailing from Rathcoole, a small town south of Dublin, Ireland, Dermot Kennedy was an active participant in Irish music at an early age, playing traditional Irish music at pubs around his hometown. Despite the small-town feel of his roots, Kennedy did not stay there for long. In his early twenties, he moved to London to experience a musical growth he could not find at home.
Since his move to London, Kennedy's musical career has grown exponentially. He first began as an independent artist, playing acoustic guitar and uploading his songs onto SoundCloud, but he yearned for something more. In 2016, he signed with Island Records and released two EP's, Doves and Wolves, which solidified his signature sound of poetic storytelling and soarig vocals. Since his first albums, Kennedy has released two additional albums, Without Fear and Last All Night, which added a more experimental edge to his sound. In 2020, Kennedy's single "Outnumbered" hit #1 on Billboard's Hot 100.
Dermot Kennedy is a solo vocalist and guitarist; he is not a member of any band.
