#Buscabulla
Since their emergence in the early 2010s, Puerto Rico based Buscabulla has made their presence felt on the global music stage. This indie rock group, whose name roughly translates to “troublemaker” has become one of Latin alternative's most celebrated exports.
Raquel Berrios and Luís Alfredo Del Valle, the band's masterminds, originally formed Buscabulla in 2012 as a spin-off from their college program at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. While studying music, the two started taking trips to New York (where Del Valle was raised) and Miami, meeting people, learning to make beats, collaborating, and writing their own songs.
They used those early years to develop an unique signature sound that blends electronic, rock, and Latin sounds. In 2013 they released their first EP entitled Pasar de las Luces, an explosive and hyper-energetic eight-tracks record which garnered them internet success and critical acclaim. That Spring, the band was featured on Red Bull’s music platform and soon after on NPR Music.
In the following years, Buscabulla released their sophomore EP -- titled with their group's moniker -- for the "iTunes Countdown to 2014" program. Soon after in 2015, the duo released their debut full-length, Algo Nuevo. This album was lauded as one of the Balearic club music's defining moments and it gave Buscabulla a major international spotlight.
The success of these releases has established Buscabulla as one of the most acclaimed emerging international acts in Latin America. Since their debut, they have opened for Jane's Addiction, performed at esteemed U.S. festivals including SXSW and Bonnaroo, and landed a spot on a roster of A-list artists chosen to support Juanes in his U.S. tour. Moreover, their song ‘Temporal’ was featured in season 4 of the Netflix series "Dear White People".
Their ability to find a striking balance between introspective lyrics and wild beats makes this duo a must-have for any indie rock fan. Initial comparisons have been made to bands like Little Joy, Tyler the Creator, Café Tacvba, Los Amigos Invisibles, and Chromeo for its sound, and acts like La Yegros, Clubz, Cuco, and Tierra Whack for its style.
Buscabulla takes the creativity, lyricism, and awe of the Latin alternative scene and injects elements of electronic and global music to create a unique and exuberant package of vibrant grooves. Fans of the duo attest to their mesmerizing live shows, which can be defined as a unique fusion of rock, global bass, and Latin beats. Standout tracks of the band include their hit singles 'NTE' and 'Tártaro', their Latin Grammy nominated 'Temporal', and the catchy pop single 'Vamos Pa'l Monte'.
Buscabulla has captivated Latin audiences worldwide and established themselves as innovators and trendsetters in the Latin indie rock movement. With a large global presence, this Puerto Rican songwriting duo sets out to blur the lines between genres and make dance-inspired jams that are sure to make you move.
