Breaking Benjamin is an American alternative rock and post-grunge band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania that was founded in 1999. Their sound comprises of rock, metal, and alternative elements, and their songs have experienced success on mainstream rock radio and many of the albums charted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. Formed by vocalist and guitarist, Benjamin Burnley, the band is composed of bassist Aaron Fink, former guitarists Chad Szeliga and Keith Wallen, and current guitarists *Jason James and Loxley.
Breaking Benjamin was formed by Benjamin Burnley in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1999. Burnley recruited guitarist Aaron Fink and drummer Chris Lightcap and released the debut EP "Saturate" in 2001. Later that year, Styper's bassist Mauxl lead was recruited and the band released their debut full-length album "We Are Not Alone" in 2002.
The album was a success, and the band then released "Phobia" in 2006, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band's next album, "Dear Agony" (2009), was also a success, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart. After "Dear Agony" was released, the lineup of the band changed several times. Ben Burnley recruited Keith Wallen and Jason James in 2011, and the drummer Chad Szeliga left the band in 2013.
Since then, Szeliga has been replaced by Loxley and the band released the album "Dark Before Dawn" in 2015, which topped the Billboard 200 chart. The band then released "Ember" in 2018, and the single from the album titled "Torn in Two" reached No. 1 on the Single Remix Chart.
