Her musical talent was discovered at a young age; she joined her family’s church choir at the age of 7 and by the age of 14 was performing professionally as a jazz musician. Keys attended Columbia University for a short time, majoring in traditional vocal performance, before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue her career in music.

Band History

After just a few short months under contract to Columbia Records, Keys left the label and signed to J Records in the late 1990s. In 2001, Keys released her first album ‘Songs in A Minor’, which featured her first hit single ‘Fallin’. This album earned Keys five Grammy Awards thus propelling her career to the next level.

Alicia Keys followed up her debut album in 2003 with her second album ‘The Diary of Alicia Keys’, which included hits such as ‘You Don’t Know My Name’ and ‘If I Ain’t Got You’. 2004 saw Keys become the first female artist to win five Grammy Awards in the same night.

Throughout the years, Keys has released an array of studio albums and achieved many more hits such as 'No One', 'Girl On Fire', 'In Common' and 'Underdog'.
